VMware NSX is VMware’s network virtualization platform for the Software-Defined Datacenter (SDDC) and provides networks with the same operational efficiency as virtual machines. Network services such as switching, routing, firewalling and load balancing are embedded in the hypervisor and distributed across the environment, resulting in a “network hypervisor” as platform for all virtual networks and aligned security services.
NSX has the following advantages:
- Detailed security policies for each individual workload through micro-segmentation – each with its own hypervisor firewall resulting in a highly secure datacenter.
- Reduced network provisioning time down to seconds and achieving high operational efficiency through network automation.
- Network and security policies follow the individual workload through its lifetime, thus achieving high workload mobility.
- Advanced network and security services available through a vast ecosystem of vendors.
